The Town
Deadwood: A Town Divided

The town of Deadwood is split into two distinct areas, separated by the central crossroads.
Daytown (South Side)
During the day, the southern half of town is the center of respectable society. This area includes:
- The Marshal's Office – The law and order of Deadwood.
- The General Store – A hub for supplies and trade.
- The Doctor's Office – A place for healing and care.
- The Undertaker / Barbershop – source of news, gossip, and sharp razors.
- The Court House – The heart of local governance.
- The Saloon – A gathering place for townsfolk and travelers.
- The Hotel – A place for travelers, lawmen, and business folk.
- The Church – A sanctuary of faith and morality.
- The Blacksmith – A hub for metalwork and repairs.
- The Telegraph Office - A place for communication with the outside world and booking the Stagecoach
- The Bank - Where you can store your hard earned coin or new found wealth
- Several Key Businesses – Essential stores and trade hubs that cater to the town's more upstanding citizens.
Nighttown (North Side)
As the sun sets, the northern end of town awakens. Here, players will find:
- A Rowdy Drinking Establishment – With high-stakes gambling, cheap whiskey, and even cheaper morals.
- Sideshow Attractions – Mysterious spectacles and dubious entertainment.
- Less Reputable Businesses – Trade and transactions of a more illicit nature.
The Townsfolk: Allies, Rivals, and Hidden Agendas
Deadwood is filled with interesting personalities, all of whom have their own motives and stories. Players are encouraged to seek out these NPCs, as they will offer:
- Opportunities for personal gain – Wealth, power, and reputation are all up for grabs.
- Faction missions – Helping (or hindering) the larger political landscape of the town.
- Personal storylines – Unique character-driven plots that only the most observant will uncover.
Trade & Commerce: A Town Built on Business
All thriving towns run on commerce, and Deadwood is no exception. Players will have the chance to:
- Find, hunt, mine, and trade goods with local businesses.
- Strike deals with traveling merchants to gain rare and valuable items.
- Advertise wares and services to turn a profit in this lawless land.
The Law: Justice, Corruption, and Consequences
The law is very real in Deadwood, and players must tread carefully when engaging in illegal activities.
There will be mechanics in place for:
- Reporting crimes, leading to bounties and arrests.
- Marshals and deputies actively hunting wanted criminals.
- Players being recruited to take down notorious outlaws.
