Welcome To Deadwood!
The Western Fest Live Role Play Game
4th - 6th July 2025
Welcome To Deadwood LRP
At Drunken Monkey Live Roleplay, we pride ourselves on creating immersive and compelling worlds in which to tell our stories. With the town of Deadwood, we have the unique opportunity to craft a truly living, breathing frontier settlement, offering an experience unlike any other.
Historically, we have kept our events small to focus on individual character stories and personal relationships between players. However, Deadwood presents a rare and exciting setting, one that we want to share with a larger group of players. To that end, we have created Deadwood!, an event where we aim to bring to life a fully explorable town and the surrounding frontier, filled with opportunities, dangers, and untamed wilderness.
A Living, Breathing World
Our core ambition is to create an immersive and explorable world where player actions have real consequences. Every choice matters, whether it's individual endeavors, faction-driven activities, or larger storylines that shape the town itself.
At the heart of our games is community—we want players to feel supported in their stories while having the freedom to forge their own paths. To help with this, we have implemented a faction-based system. These factions do not dictate who your character is or whom they can interact with. Instead, they provide a starting point, a support network, and a shared purpose, ensuring that every player has a way to connect with the unfolding story.
Beyond the factions, the town itself and its many NPCs will present challenges, conflicts, and opportunities. Some problems will arise within the town itself, while others will require players to venture into the wilderness, testing their courage, wit, and resourcefulness.
We always encourage players to push the boundaries of our world, but never at the expense of another player's enjoyment. Our team is always prepared to adapt the story to unexpected developments, as long as it remains within the limits of what we can physically represent.
Game Style - PvE and PvP
PvE stands for Player vs Environment meaning that characters are up against nonplayer challenges such as plot, crew-created characters, Dedicated Non-Player Character (DNPC) and Non-Player Characters (NPC), or environmental challenges. PvP stands for Player vs Player, meaning that the players are directly competing against one another either for control of a specific goal or resource. Deadwood! aims for PvP to largely be an opt-in method of gameplay. Should players begin to engage in an action that would opt them into PvP (such as an action that would make them a Wanted person) they will be warned of this where possible so they can decide if this is a gameplay element they wish to become involved in. Players who do not wish to engage in PvP should think carefully about their choices, as in-character actions can result in PvP as an in-character consequence. We do not wish to create a game where death is used as a first port-of-call in any situation where characters clash, but also do not wish for players to feel they can undertake risky actions and then 'opt out' of PvP to protect their character. Please note that even people who are non-combatants can still be a target for PvP.
